Numerous organizations have implemented Work from
home in their work culture and have gained benefits like retention of remote
employees and reduced overhead costs. On the other hand, employees too are
getting benefitted by work from home due to its advantages like
flexibility, better work life balance and less time in commuting. Many
researches have been done and has identified wide range of benefits on how work
from home is better than working at a designated office place. Also,
Covid-19, has given an opportunity to the employer to adapt the new culture
because of various advantages of work from home such as:
1) Safety
of employees from getting infected
2) social
distancing becomes more easy
3) comfortable
working environment
Though, there are benefits still preference is given
to work from office. One of the major reason is not all the work can
be completed by just sitting at home. This is one of the major drawback /
disadvantage of work from home. The employees working in sectors like production,
retail, healthcare staff, transport and other services where they have to deal
with the customers, products or machinerycannot WFH. Lack of working
facilities at home like internet, no working machines, better space to work,
unwanted distractions like friends and family etc. impact the efficiency of an
employee.
Therefore, working in office could be a right choice. You are more productive as well you can give more concentration on work without any overhead cost. It is a good choice during special circumstances like bad weather conditions or cases like pandemic. It makes convenient to employees to work even in such circumstances.
Other factors why your organizations are not ready for WFH:
1. Ethics; is something which depends on one person
to person. There are employees who need others around so that they can help
them in generating ideas, or they need some motivation when they see other
working hard. Some like be on professional attire and some would prefer doing
work on sweatpants at home.
2. The nature of the work if it requires more
concentration
3. U work better when U are being monitored
Confidence and trust is the major issue. Many employers
do not It’s is believed that when you are monitored, you work much better.
During office hours your boss can catch you up if you are on a coffee break.
Other technical reasons:
1) Cyber security Risk:
There are several technological risks. Of them risk of cyber security is the
major one. No company/organization would like to take the risk if it can be
avoided by providing employees office equipment at office place. Majority of
companies in India give top priority to Cyber security.
2) Data privacy and malware are the other risks which the company would like to avoid. Malware could effected more home based networks than office based networks. Also when the employee works from home there is a big question mark for the employers on data privacy.
